CLINICAL INTERNSHIP AND PRACTICUM PROGRAM

The mission of the Back on Track Internship Program is to provide an enriched clinical training experience focusing on building clinical and cultural competency for students preparing for a career in mental health. Back on Track prides itself in its ongoing commitment to training clinicians with a foundation based on the concepts of community collaboration, cultural competence, client and family focus and clinical excellence. Internship spots are limited.

GRADUATE CLINICAL INTERNSHIP

Back on Track is inviting graduate-level students who are seeking a degree in social work, mental health counseling, or psychology to apply for our internship program.  We are committed to the training of students by providing opportunities for meaningful learning experiences.  This is an in-person or hybrid opportunity so you must be available to see clients in our office.


Interns will provide individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy for adolescents, and/or children, in an outpatient group practice setting and/ or online. Applicants must be willing to commit to weekly clinical supervision during traditional business hours regardless of graduate school program requirements


This is an UNPAID position with the possibility of future employment upon successful completion of our program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate-level social work, professional counseling, psychology program, or other human services-related program for the entire duration of the placement.
  • Must have completed psychopathology, and possess knowledge of clinical diagnoses and treatment planning.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass federal, state, and child protective background check.
  • Must obtain and provide proof of student malpractice insurance.
  • Must be willing to commit to Back on Track for one year.

WE INVITE YOU TO APPLY IF:

  • You are a motivated, self-starter with a desire to provide psychotherapy for mental or behavioral health issues.
  • You have a working knowledge of mental health diagnoses (psychopathology), treatment modalities, DSM-5 criteria and terminology.
  • You work well with diverse populations.
  • You are able to develop effective therapeutic alliances while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • You are skilled in time management, organization, problem-solving, crisis intervention and multi-tasking as part of a therapeutic team.
  • You have strong writing and communication skills.

UNDERGRADUATE INTERNSHIPS

Back on Track accepts undergraduate interns pursuing careers in the social services field to participate in a mutually beneficial relationship in which the intern gains knowledge and experience while the community benefits from their service. Undergraduate interns are provided with an opportunity to interact with children and families. Undergraduate interns are also exposed to a multi-disciplinary team approach in the delivery of services to children and families. Requirements for acceptance include:

  • Registered in an undergraduate level internship in human services or psychology
  • Complete and pass a criminal background check
